Softball: Saints swept by Seattle

Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s fell to Seattle
University 8-0 and 9-3 as the Redhawks’ pitching allowed just six hits
in the two games Friday afternoon at the SMU Softball Field.
Seattle’s Erin Martin threw a one hit shutout in
game one then allowed just one hit in five innings of relief in game
two. Martin didn’t walk a batter in either game. She struck out five in
game one.
Seattle scored in five of the six innings of game
one on 11 hits. Katie Antich and Jane Purdy had four hits apiece for the
Redhawks.
The Saints’ only hit came on a single in the second
by Holly Morris. Jamie Herrick took the loss foe SMU.
In the second game Saint Martin’s jumped out to a
3-0 with three runs in the first on doubles by Holly Morris and Lisa
Holombo.
Seattle then tied the game in the second and took
the 5-3 lead in the third. They would tack on four insurance runs in the
sixth.
Five different players had one hit apiece for SMU,
including Kristine Kaneshiro, Morris, Holombo, Marlaina Irwin, and
Alicia Fuchs. Brandi Klemm was tagged with the loss for the Saints.
