August 13, 2001 Lacey, Washington - Saint Martin’s athletic director Bob Grisham has announced the hiring of Jason Hanson, to take over the women’s softball program. “Jason brings a unique blend of coaching and playing experience to our softball program,” said Grisham. “He has a style that will allow him to relate very well to our student-athletes as a teacher of the game.” Hanson’s playing experience includes a National Championship in 1997 with the Tampa Bay Smokers, and World Championships in 1996 and 1998. In 2000, Hanson was a member of the United States bronze medal team in the Olympic Games. He also coached in Wellington, New Zealand for 3 years. Hanson will inherit a team that finished 18-18 in 2001, with a talented group of returning players. Dan Helms, Sports Information Director
