September 5,
2008
Lacey, WA – Cal State Dominguez Hills picked up two
goals in the first half and added another in the second to earn the
victory over host Saint Martin’s University, 3-0 Friday afternoon at the
Regional Athletic Complex.
The Toros got on the board at the 18:00 minute mark
when Kevin Gallaugher converted the penalty kick. They would add another
goal in the 27th minute as Kyle Holland scored on an assist from Marco
Pulido giving CSUDH the 2-0 lead at the break.
Dominguez Hills capped off their scoring in the
second half on yet another goal from Holland at 83:58 on a breakaway.
Two CSUDH keepers combined for the shutout without
having to make a save as the Toro defense kept SMU’s offense in check.
The Toros also outshot the Saints 13-4.
“We had a rash of injuries today that really
affected us,” said head coach Rob Walker. “Vlad Voin played very well in
several different roles for us when we were a man short.”
The 8th ranked Toros are now 4-0 on the season while
the Saint Martin’s falls to 0-3. The Saints will play again on Sunday
the 7th at noon at the RAC.
