Men’s Soccer: Saints fall in final match of season

Bellingham, WA – Saint Martin’s was unable to hold
off the Western Washington offense at they lost 5-1 in their final Great
Northwest Athletic Conference contest of the year Saturday night at Orca
Field on the campus of Whatcom CC.
The Saints got on the board first in the 17th minute
as Chase Franklin scored an unassisted goal from twelve yards out for
his fifth goal of the season. The Vikings would answer back just 47
seconds later when Gibson Bardsley sent one into the net on an assist
from Samir Vejo. WWU would add two more in the half to go into the break
up 3-1.
Bardsley, who had an assist in the first half, would
pick up another goal in the second half. Western capped off their
scoring with a goal with less than a minute left to play.
Western Washington sent 21 shots at the SMU goal to
the Saints’ eight shots. Zac Lubin and T.J. Young split time in the
goal. Lubin posted four saves in 60 minutes and Young had three in 30
minutes.
The Saints finish their inaugural season 3-16-0
overall and 0-8-0 in conference.
