Men’s Soccer: Yellowjackets dominate in win over Saints

Lacey, WA – Montana State Billings scored five in
the second half on their way to a 6-0 shutout over Saints Martin’s
Thursday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex.
The first half stayed close with neither team able
to score until the 23 minute mark. The Yellowjackets capitalized on a
penalty kick as Sam Charles sent one into the back of the net to put
MSUB up 1-0, his first of three in the game. The score would remain the
same through the break.
The Yellowjackets stormed into the second half
picking up their second goal in the 53rd minute when Jarren Weisen
scored on an assist from Charles. He would score again at 60:32 this
time assisted by Jurell Linford.
Charles would take another penalty kick in the game
which he would again send into the back of the Saints net. His third
goal would come in the 67th minute off a corner kick from Chris Cornish.
Linford would score the final goal for MSUB with
just eight minute left to play on a cross from matt D’Hont.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Saints 24-7, sending a
total of 16 at the Saints goal in the second half alone. Zac Lubin
posted six saves for the Saints in his 90 minutes in the goal.
The Saints next game will be on Monday, October 8th
when they take on Cal State Monterey Bay in non-conference action at the
RAC.
