Men’s Basketball: Linton earns weekly honor
January 22, 2008
Lacey, WA – Jake Linton was named Great Northwest
Athletic Conference co-Player-of-the-Week for his performance on the
hardwood last week.
Linton helped lead the Saints to a pair of wins
including a victory over defending GNAC co-champion Seattle University.
He took just 11 shots, but helped produce 59 points
in an 81-52 win against Montana State Billings and an 88-77 win over
Seattle U.
Linton made seven of 11 shots, including going six
for eight from behind the arc and was a perfect 16-16 at the foul line.
In addition to his 36 points, he added 11 assists
and six steals with just two turnovers.
“It is a nice honor to see Jake get GNAC
Player-of-the-Week. He was instrumental in us getting two conference
wins last week and being tied for second in the conference at this
point,” said head coach Keith Cooper. “He played very focused and
efficient Saturday night and did a great job both nights of running the
team. Good players put up good numbers, but great players make their
teammates better and Jake is a perfect example of a great player.”
