Men’s Basketball: Linton earns pre-season All-American honors
October 15, 2007
Jake Linton was named to the Division II Bulletin
pre-season All-American team receiving an honorable mention selection.
“This is a great honor for Jake and for our
program,” said head coach Keith Cooper. “He embodies how we want our
program to be represented, a true competitor who works hard everyday on
and off the floor and in the classroom (3.30 GPA), and does so in a very
humble manner in comparison to the attention and accolades he has and
will continue to earn. To be considered for All-American status is very
rare and even more rare for someone going into their junior year but
anyone who has seen us play will certainly agree it is well deserved for
Jake.”
Linton led the conference in scoring in league games
last season averaging 22.3 points per game for the Saints. He was third
in league games in assists per game, 5.63, and three point percentage at
.477. Linton also finished the season ranked ninth nationally in free
throw percentage at 88.2 percent.
Linton was one of four Great Northwest Athletic
Conference athletes selected to the team. Luke Cooper and Rebecca
Kielpinski from Alaska Anchorage and Leada Berkey from Western Oregon
also earned recognition.
