Men’s Basketball: Saints fall to Wildcats

Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s men’s basketball fell to
Central Washington University 103-85 Saturday night at the SMU Pavilion.
The first half was close until with just over eight
minutes to go in the first half, tied 21-21, Central went on a 20-4 run
to pull ahead by 16. The Wildcats took a 49-37 lead into the break.
The Wildcats maintained their lead throughout the
second half going up by as much as 22. The Saints continued to battle
but couldn’t close the gap and suffered their fourth conference loss.
Jake Linton posted a game high 30 points for the
Saints. Stephon Harris added 15 points going 7-8 from the free throw
line. Tyler Nixon pulled down a game high seven rebounds.
The Wildcats had four players in double figures on
the night. Lance Den Boer led the charge with 26 points while Bryan
Freshwater added 22. Tyler Monk and Nate Jackson each had 11. Johnny
Spevak had a game high 12 assists.
There are now five teams in the GNAC tied with four
losses each. Seattle Pacific is back on top after a win tonight with an
8-4 record. Central, Alaska Anchorage and Saint Martin’s are all 7-4 and
Alaska Fairbanks is 6-4.
The Saints get ready to head to Nampa, ID to take on
the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders next Thursday.
