Men’s Basketball: Saints win streak comes to an end

Seattle, WA (January 25) – The Saint Martin’s men’s
basketball fell to Seattle Pacific 100-90 Thursday night at the Brougham
Pavilion snapping a seven game winning streak and handing the Saints
their first conference loss.
The Falcons jumped out early and built their lead to
11 before the Saints were able to pull within one, 40-39 with 1:50 left
to go. But the Falcons were able to sink two three-pointers to go up by
seven going into the half.
The Falcons opened up the second half with a 28-7
run to take a 28 point lead 74-46 with 11:31 left in the game. The
Saints scrapped back the rest of the way. Joe Chirhart hit two threes in
the final 18 seconds to put the Saints within ten but it was too late.
Jake Linton led the Saints with 18 points and six
assists. Brendan Campbell added 15 points. Justin Alexander and Michael
McIver came off the bench to score 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Falcons also had four players in double figures.
Dustin Bremerman had a game high 23 points. JoJay Jackson added 17
points while Rob Diederichs had 16 and Casey Reed posted 11.
The Saints shot only 63.6 percent from the free
throw line, going 28-44. They were also out shot in the field 63.6
percent to 39.4 percent.
The Saints play at home against Northwest Nazarene
this Saturday in a special 2 p.m. start time.
