Men’s Basketball: Linton named co-Player of the Week
January 22, 2007
Lacey, WA – For the second week in a row Saint
Martin’s men’s basketball guard Jake Linton received co-Player of the
Week honors for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Linton posted 24 points to help the Saints beat the
University of Alaska Anchorage. He converted 6 of 7 from the three and
added six assists on the night. In a win over the University of Alaska
Fairbanks he racked up a double-double with a game high 25 points and 10
assists. Over the two games Linton was perfect from the foul line going
9-9.
“Jake not only scored for us this week he did a
great job taking care of the ball. His offensive decision making is a
big part of why we’ve gone on a run like we have,” said head coach Keith
Cooper. “Even though he’s only a sophomore he’s really growing as a
leader of this team and he’ll be a great quarterback for us this year
and the next two years.”
Also receiving the honor this week was David White
of Seattle University. White scored 17 points and had nine rebounds in
an overtime road win at Central Washington and posted 13 points and 13
rebounds in a win against Seattle Pacific.
