Men’s Basketball: Linton receives Player of the Week honors
January 16, 2007
Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s University men’s
basketball point guard Jake Linton was named as the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference co-Player of the Week for his efforts on the court.
Linton helped led the Saints to two road victories
against Central Washington and Seattle U. Linton scored a game high 21
points against the Wildcats and had 20 points at Seattle hitting 6 of 12
from the field and making 7 of 8 free throws.
“This is a good honor for Jake. He could have gotten
it the week before and Brendan could have gotten it this week. It’s nice
to have two players both worthy of honors like this,” said head coach
Keith Cooper. “Jake’s competitiveness and composure are a large reason
why we’re able to win close games down the stretch. The last three games
our late game composure has been excellent, Jake as point guard is
primarily responsible for that.”
Linton shares the honor with Carl Arts from Alaska
Anchorage. Arts scored a career high 27 points with 10 rebounds and
three steals as the Seawolves defeated Northwest Nazarene.
