Two Saints earn weekly honors

February 25, 2008

Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s pitcher Andrew Neisinger was named as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week while men’s basketball guard Jake Linton received honorable mention.

Neisinger didn’t allow a run in two relief appearances in which he threw 6 1/3 innings as the Saints split four games at the Guardian Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Tournament. He pitched the final five innings against Montana State Billings, allowing just two hits and no runs as the Saints rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Yellowjackets 8-4. In the two contests he surrendered just four hits and struck out three without giving up a walk.

Linton scored 50 points as the Saints split two games, including tying a GNAC season high with 33 points in a home win over Seattle Pacific. He went 15 of 36 from the field, converting on nine of 19 treys. He also added 13 assists and six rebounds in the two contests. He leads the GNAC with four 30 point games this season.
