September 15, 2008 Spokane, WA – Saint Martin’s John Riak was named at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week for his performance this past weekend. Riak earned his second victory in as many weeks winning the Apple Ridge Run hosted by Central Washington University in Yakima. He ran the 8k course in a time of 25:52.00, 29 seconds better than teammate Josiah Price, who took second. “This is great news for John and well deserved,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “The meet was at the site of this year's GNAC Championships and John really enjoyed this course and looked smooth and relaxed racing to victory.” Riak, who is the defending GNAC and West Region champion, now has a 14 career wins.
