Cross Country: Saints post repeat performance

September 13, 2008

Yakima, WA – Saint Martin’s John Riak and Josiah Price took first and second on the men’s side for the second week in a row while Joscelyn Minton again finished second for the women at the 2008 Apple Ridge Run Invitational hosted by Central Washington University.

Riak earned his 14th collegiate victory in a time of 25:52.00, 29 seconds ahead of teammate Price who finished with a time of 26:21.00. The two led the Saints to a second place finish behind nationally ranked Western Washington University.

“We were without a runner this weekend to score some points for us,” said head coach Julie Sullivan, “so the team result for the men was even more exciting.”

Minton ran a time of 23:46.00 to finish just behind Sarah Porter of WWU. Minton made a move on the final climb of the day to go ahead of former national qualifier Marcie Mullen of CWU.

Nick Harvey ran his best collegiate race finishing in 12th with a time of 27:49.00 with teammate Spencer Hunt running the same time.

Annie Laweryson took 11th in a time of 24:47.00 while Krinda Carlson ran a 25:44.00 to finish 22nd. Helen Camden’s time of 26:10.00 put her in 24th.

The Saints head to Seattle next Saturday to take part in the UW Sundodger Meet.
