Cross Country: Riak tallies another accolade
November 7, 2007
New Orleans, LA – John Riak has added yet another
honor to this year’s string of accomplishments. Riak has been selected
as the West Region Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year by the U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
So far this season Riak has posted five victories
including the GNAC Championship and most recently the West Regional
title, extending his GNAC career victory record to 12. He was also named
as GNAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Year for his efforts.
“John's work ethic and dedication to this sport, and
his sportsmanship towards his fellow competitors and team members make
him a very worthy recipient of this award,” said head coach Julie
Sullivan. “Always ready, always willing, never any excuses, he loves to
run and he loves to win. John's tenacity to learn has brought him a long
way, and will take him further in his sporting career.”
Riak is gearing up to take part in the DII Cross
Country National Championship Meet set for November 20, in Joplin, MO.
