Baseball: Wolves take two from Saints

Lacey, WA – Western Oregon University posted 30 hits
on their way to a two game sweep of Saint Martin’s 7-2 and 14-1 Saturday
at Saints Field.
The Wolves got one run in the first inning then
broke the game open with three runs in both the fourth and fifth
innings.
Mike Eisenhauer held the Saints scoreless through
seven innings before they were able to put two runs on the board in the
eighth.
Nate Baker singled to score Tom Barlow, stole second
then came in to score on a single up the middle by Brandon Kuykendall.
Barlow, Baker and Kuykendall had two hits a piece
for Saint Martin’s. Ryan Brilhante picked up the Saints only other hit
in the game.
The Wolves struck early in game two with three runs
in the second inning then added four more in the third.
The Saints got one back in the bottom of the third
as Shane Schoeneberg drove in a run with a single up the middle. But the
Wolves were able to put up a six spot in the sixth to put the game away.
Mike Ward threw a complete game for WOU to earn the
win. Schoeneberg, Barlow and Braegelmann had two hits each.
The Saints wrap up their season with a doubleheader
against Western Oregon tomorrow starting at noon at Saints Field.
