May 14, 2007 Spokane, WA – Saint Martin’s pitcher Tip Wonhoff, first baseman Adam Siler, and outfielder Nate Baker were selected to the 2007 Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball team first-team as announced by the conference office Monday. Siler and Baker were both repeat selections from last year and were unanimous selections. Siler and Central Washington’s Jamie Nilsen were named to the first-team for the third year in a row; the first baseball players in GNAC history to gain that distinction. Wonhoff posted a 2.86 earned run average in 11 starts for the Saints. He threw a total of 81 innings and only allowed four walks. Siler batted .370 with 13 doubles and led the team with 35 runs batted in. Baker had a .356 average at the plate with 58 hits and 40 runs scored. The Saints also landed three on the second team with two more receiving honorable mention. The second team honorees included catcher Richard O’Neill, second baseman Vince Maughan, and outfielder Craig Yuhas. O’Neill had 15 doubles and 24 runs batted in on his way to a .302 batting average. Maughan batted .287 and stole 14 bases in 19 attempts; Yuhas had four homeruns and 24 RBI while batting .275. Pitcher Pat Capone and third baseman Shane Schoeneberg received the honorable mention nod. Capone threw 72 innings in his 12 starts for the
Saints with a 5.38 ERA. Schoeneberg batted .278 with 40 hits and .375
slugging percentage.
