Baseball: Saints shutout by Griffons

Lewiston, ID – Saint Martin’s was unable to bring a
runner home as they were defeated 4-0 by Missouri Western Thursday
afternoon on day one on the Guardian Plumbing, Heating and A/C
Tournament at Harris Field.
The Griffons got on the board in the bottom of the
first when centerfielder Troy Landi hit a two run single through the
left side. They scored again in the second and once more in the sixth.
The Saints, who left five runners stranded on base,
posted six hits on the day. Curtis Thibault went 2-3 and Nate Baker was
2-4. Shane Schoeneberg and Maki Smith had the Saints only other two
hits.
Landi was 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Griffons while
Brian Munson went 3-5 with one RBI.
Nick Bolthouse started on the mound for the Saints
throwing six innings and giving up only three earned runs.
Billy Jones picked up the win for Missouri Western
in their first game of eth season going eight innings while Kyle Grup
earned the save.
The Saints get ready to face host Lewis-Clark State
tomorrow afternoon in day two of the tournament.
