Baseball: Saints lose to hot hitting Broncos

Pomona, CA (February 16) – Cal Poly Pomona pounded
out 22 hits on their way to defeating Saint Martin’s 17-4 Friday in game
one of a four game series at Scolinos Field.
The Saints scored two in the top of the first on an
error and ground out by Andrew Salinas. But the Broncos answered back
posting a three spot in the bottom of the inning on five hits. They
continued to put up crooked numbers scoring in all but the seventh
inning. The Saints were able to put up one run in the fourth and one
more in the seventh with both runs coming in on errors.
The Broncos had four players with three hits each
including A.J. Cavaletto, Kevin Falls, Mike Evola, and John Leonard.
Leonard had five RBIs on the day.
Craig Yuhas and Tanner Gronowski had two hits each
for the Saints who had a total of nine hits in the game.
Pat Capone was hit with the loss while Ryan Screnar
picked up the win for the Broncos.
The Saints have a doubleheader today against the
Broncos
