January 11, 2007 San Francisco – The San Francisco Giants have extended non-roster invitations to a total of 26 players including former Saint Martin’s University player Justin Leone. Leone, a power hitting third baseman, hit .260 with 20 home runs and 73 RBI for the Portland Beavers, San Diego’s triple-A affiliate, in 2006. He has played in 32 major league games both with the Seattle Mariners in 2004 and the Padres in 2006, batting .214 with six home runs and 13 RBI. The Giants begin their first full work-out of Spring Training on February 20 and open Spring Training play on March 1 with a road game against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, AZ.
