Robert A. Harvie Social Justice Lecture

Hamar Foster, QC will kick off the 2014-2014 Harvie Social Justice Lecture series. Les Bailey Writer's Series
Inaugural Public Presentation/Reading
October 8, 7 p.m.

Award winning novelist Brian Doyle will headline the first Les Bailey Writer's Series. Doyle, author of 14 books of essays, poems, and stories, will present: "Grace under duress, stories as food, laughter as a weapon against the dark, courage when it doesn't make any sense, and minor further discussion of basketball, writers, hawks, headlong children, the prevalence of miracles, and thorny holiness." The new annual series was established through an endowment honoring longtime Saint Martin's English professor, Les Bailey, who died in 2010. Free admission.

As a part of our regional alumni event series invite you to join Jim Guerci '72, Director of Alumni Relations, and Dr. Roy Heynderickx, University President, for a private mass followed by brunch in Yakima. Mass will be celebrated by Abbot Neal Roth, O.S.B. '65 with assistance by Father Kilian Malvey, O.S.B. HS '55, '64. Members of the Saint Martin's University Chorale will lift their voices in anticipation of All Saints Day and the Fest of Saint Martin of Tours. The program of sacred music, poetry and readings is free and open to the public.

Rally your family and friends and make your way through the 5-acre Corn Maze, with the help of your free Saint Martin's flashlight! Open to all alumni and their families.


All Saints Day Mass
November 1, 11 a.m. or 5 p.m.
St. Martin's Abbey Church

November 1 marks All Saints Day. All are invited to join the monks of the St. Martin's Abbey in prayerful celebration. Mass is at 11 a.m. and Pontifical Evening Prayer is at 5 p.m.

Lift your forks and raise your wine glasses - celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich is coming to the Saint Martin's Gala! Guests will enjoy a culinary demonstration by Bastianich, the "grande dame" of Italian cooking and recipient of the 2013 Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Culinary Host."

Saint Martin's Jingle Bell Run

Run, walk, or stroll the five-kilometer route on Saint Martin's beautiful wooded campus to kick off the holiday season!
