Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate credit
Many Saint Martin’s students enroll with college credits earned through AP or IB exams. Saint Martin’s grants credit for scores of 3 or higher on AP exams and scores 5 or higher on higher level IB exams, consistent with our general credit transfer policy. If you would like your previous work to be considered for credit, please contact the Office of Admissions for more information and instructions.

Home school students
Home schooled applicants will be evaluated on an individual basis. Applicants should supply as much information as possible about their home school experience. At minimum, transcripts, descriptions of all courses, with reading lists, should be submitted to the Office of Admissions. If courses have been taken at a local high school or college, transcripts must be submitted.

International students
Students who are not citizens of the United States, its territories (such as Guam and the Marshal Islands), or are not Permanent Residents, should apply as an international student.

Running start students
Washington State students who have taken Running Start classes apply to Saint Martin’s as first-year student. This also applies to students from other states with similar dual-enrollment or "college in the high school" programs. To receive credit for college level work, students must submit transcripts from the college or university where they completed the courses. Your running start work will be evaluated for transferability and you’ll receive full-credit for the college level work you’ve completed under Saint Martin’s general transfer of credit policies.

Teacher certification
Transfer students who wish to enter the education program or teacher certification program must complete a separate application for admission to the education division. Acceptance to Saint Martin's University does not guarantee admission to the education or teacher certification programs. Students interested in pursuing Teacher Certification should contact the education office at 360-438-4333 to learn about deadlines for the College of Education.

Transfer students
Any student who has taken college level courses for credit after graduating from high school should apply to Saint Martin’s as a transfer student. Those transferring less than 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits (one year of study typically) should also submit their high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores.

Veterans and active duty personnel
Saint Martin’s University is an excellent choice for Veterans, active duty personnel and their dependents. Discounted tuition rates are available for active duty personnel and Saint Martin’s participates in all benefit programs, including the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill, also known as Chapter 33 or the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Saint Martin’s University cooperates with the Veterans Administration in carrying out the provisions of the public laws established to give educational benefits to veterans and qualifying dependents of veterans whose death or permanent and total disability is service connected. Contact the Office of Admissions for more information.

Please submit military documentation to receive credit (DD214, DD295, AARTES transcripts, CCAF transcripts, DANTES transcripts, DLI transcripts).

Fee waivers and transcripts

Official transcripts
For your transcripts to be considered “official,” they must be mailed directly from the high school and/or college you attended to Saint Martin’s Office of Admissions. Alternatively, transcripts must be delivered in an official and sealed envelope. You must submit transcripts from each school you have attended, regardless of whether transfer credit was earned or sought. College credit from one institution that appears on a subsequent institution’s transcript is unofficial and is not considered acceptable for admission purposes. Most colleges and universities have procedures for obtaining official copies of transcripts listed on their websites, and many have downloadable forms to request official transcripts.

Applicants must submit a final transcript upon graduation from high school. Transfer applicants must submit a final transcript from their current college or university.
