English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
English for academic purposes:
Saint Martin's University offers an intensive ESL program for students who
are academically qualified to attend Saint Martin's University, but lack
the required TOEFL score. The program offers college preparatory courses
for students from beginning to advanced level. Students applying to the
intensive ESL program must meet all Saint Martin's admission
requirements with the exception of the TOEFL score.
Conditional acceptance:
Students accepted to the intensive ESL program are granted a conditional
admission to the university. They are expected to complete their ESL study
within an 18 month period. Any extension beyond the 18 months will
require special permission from the program director.
Concurrent status:
Students who have achieved TOEFL scores between 490 and 524 enter with
concurrent status and are eligible to enroll in one or two regular
courses in addition to ESL courses. A student will be fully enrolled in
regular courses once a 525 or better TOEFL score has been achieved.
