Application Common policies and procedures Regardless of the department, three decisions can be made about the candidate's application:
The decision to admit rests with the criteria established by the respective department or program. For instance, the student may be required to complete a program-specific application and secure letters of recommendation, take standardized tests, write an essay particular to the field of interest or be interviewed. The application fee for all graduate programs is $35. It is non-refundable. The number of hours required to complete a master's degree varies among programs. In general, students complete a minimum of twelve to eighteen semester hours of coursework before review or application for "admission to candidacy." Each department determines the particular format that the admission to candidacy takes and/or the particular time frame in to which it is to occur. Students have a maximum of seven calendar years from formal program admission to complete their degree. Students must maintain a "B" average in graduate coursework, regardless of the graduate program in which enrolled. On completion of all specific program and degree requirements as established by the University and graduate program, the student will be awarded the appropriate master's degree. |
