Student Financial Service Center - Student Accounts
The Student Financial Service Center (SFSC) is a combination of
student accounts and financial aid services. The SFSC staff is
committed to assisting students in the Catholic Benedictine
tradition of hospitality throughout their educational experience at
Saint Martin's University. Our goal is to ensure that the work we do
continues to support our Benedictine heritage and serve our
community well. The University offers a monthly payment plan in
order to make students' financial experiences as positive as
possible. The following services are available with Student
Financial Services:
Check cashing: Students can cash personal checks up
to $30. Employees can cash personal checks up to $50.
Payments: Payment for the semester is due by the
first day of the semester. (see below for monthly plan information)
All payments made on students' accounts are processed through this
office including monthly payments. Deposits for housing and tuition
are receipted through this office as well.
Payment plans: Due to our commitment to Benedictine
hospitality and compassion, Saint Martin's offers a monthly payment
plan option. Students or their families can make a monthly payment
plan for the semester or the year (fall and spring) through Tuition
Management Systems. TMS offers a convenient way to pay educational
expenses by paying monthly rather than all at once.
Students need to be familiar with calculating their budget for the
semester. Work study and student employment awards are not used in
the calculation and most Stafford loans are subject to an estimated
two percent processing fee through their lender. This two percent
should be deducted from the loan when budgeting. Federal PLUS loans
are assessed an estimated four percent which should be deducted as
well. Contact the Student Financial Service Center staff if you need
assistance with calculating your budget by calling 360-438-4389. We
will be happy to help you.
If the calculation results in a balance due, and a monthly payment
plan is desired, students (and/or parents) may apply for a monthly
plan with Tuition Management Systems by calling TMS at
1-800-722-4867 or online at
www.afford.com/stmartin.
Financial aid questions/awards: All student aid
awards are processed in the Student Financial Service Center. If you
have any questions or concerns regarding applying for aid, your
award letter, or just general questions regarding financing your
education, we are available to assist you.
Student work study checks: Student paychecks are
available the last working day of the month and are picked up in the
Student Financial Service Center. Automatic deposit is encouraged
and can be arranged through the SMU payroll office.
Refunds: Refunds are processed within 30 days of
the date the credit balance is reflected. Refunds are processed
weekly on Fridays, and are available after 1 p.m. Refunds are mailed
to the permanent address on file unless a refund authorization form
requesting pick up is on file in the Student Financial Service
Center. Forms are available in the office or on our refund policy
web page for your convenience.
