Campus parking regulations Saint Martin's University provides free parking within walking distance of campus facilities for students, staff, faculty, visitors and vendors. Parking in lots for faculty, staff and visitors is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The university issues permits for using its lots to accommodate vehicles driven to campus, and has established regulations for governing their use. By familiarizing yourself with these regulations and the accompanying map, you will avoid any unnecessary problems. Parking is permitted only in parking lots, and then only in marked spaces. Parking is not permitted on roadsides, driveways, pedestrian paths, on the grass or anywhere that is not specifically marked as a parking space. A good rule to follow is if it doesn't look like a parking stall, assume that it isn't. All parking permits are provided for faculty, staff, students, and visitors free of charge. Visitor parking is available in these locations:
When parking in any other campus location, the visitor must obtain a visitor's parking permit. This permit, which must be hung from the vehicle's rearview mirror, will indicate the area where you may park and can be obtained from any of the following campus locations: the Information Center, Old Main, room 256; the Lynch Development Center; or the Office of Campus Safety and Security, Old Main 207. Saint Martin's faculty, staff, and students are not considered visitors on campus. Any visitor parking a vehicle registered on campus by members of the faculty, staff, or student, must abide by the rules and regulations of the University. Regulations contained in this brochure are the official Saint Martin's University parking regulations as of July 1, 1997. These regulations are necessary for the safe and orderly conduct of University and Abbey business. Parking on Saint Martin's campus, or on property owned, leased, or contracted for University use by the board of trustees is a privilege and is subject to all Saint Martin's University parking regulations. Saint Martin's University is private property. It reserves the right to regulate all parking on its property, to establish parking and traffic regulations, and to provide penalties for violation of regulations. The University also reserves the right to tow vehicles immediately for violations such as blocking access, parking in fire lanes, and parking in disabled parking spaces. Vehicles also may be ticketed for serious or repeated infractions in accordance with towing regulations posted at all campus entrances. Responsibility for enforcing Saint Martin's official parking and traffic regulations is the duty of the University's Office of Campus Safety and Security, as provided by the Saint Martin's Board of Trustees. Saint Martin's parking lots require a valid parking permit 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, faculty, staff, or students parking a vehicle on University property must register the vehicle with the University's Office of Campus Safety and Security. These regulations provide information on how to acquire and use a parking permit, and how to register a vehicle. The University accepts no responsibility for the theft of or damage to privately owned vehicles, or their contents, while on the Saint Martin's campus.
