Message from Director Thronson
Welcome to the Saint Martin's University Office of
Public Safety website.
Public safety exists to ensure the health and welfare
of the campus community. We are committed to the
following:
-
Providing
and maintaining a safe and secure campus in which to live, study,
work and pray.
- Fostering an environment where diverse
social, spiritual, cultural and academic values
can thrive.
- Creating an atmosphere conducive to working,
living, and learning in a Catholic, Benedictine
education setting.
Campus patrols, educational programs and proactive partnerships with
the school and abbey help accomplish this. Our team believes safe
communities are achieved through partnerships and the timely reporting
of crimes. Following these safety principals directly contributes to
the development of a healthy and safe campus.
Our website offers important information to assist in keeping
our campus community safe. It has been developed as a
convenient and comprehensive resource. It allows students,
faculty, staff, and monastic members access to personal safety
and emergency support information. Specifically, it focuses on
crime prevention and statistics, emergency preparedness and
anonymous crime reporting forms.
The Office of Public Safety is operational 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. It is comprised of
full-time professional staff and part-time
student officers. We work in partnership with
other University offices and the Lacey Police
and Fire Departments.
On behalf of the SMU Office of Public Safety, I hope your time at Saint
Martin's University is enjoyable, productive and safe. If you have any
questions related to Public safety, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
