My Personal Librarian
Summer Bridge 2011
Starting the summer of 2011, all Bridge students will have a personal
librarian to guide them through their first year in using a college
library.
Who is my Personal Librarian?
Karen Jaskar is the subject librarian for Community
Service, Philosophy, and Sociology, and will be serving as the Personal
Librarian for the 2011 Bridge Program. Whatever your classes or future
major, Karen is here to serve as your first contact when you have
questions about using the O'Grady Library.
How can a Personal Librarian help me?
- Take a tour of the physical and virtual O'Grady Library
- Get help in finding books or articles for your classes
- Have materials sent from other libraries
- Find citation tools to document your sources
- Brainstorm topic ideas for projects and papers
- Receive email updates on new resources, workshops, or extended library
hours
- Locate key services on campus for homework help, counseling, health
care, or tech troubleshooting
What can't my Personal Librarian do?
Like all of the librarians at O'Grady, Karen will be on hand to help
through every phase of your research process, but she can't research or
write your papers for you. As your professors at the Library, we never
want to interfere with your chance to learn and grow as a scholar, so we
leave the heavy lifting up to you!
I'm not in the Summer Bridge Program -- where can I go
for library help?
Don't worry, O'Grady Library has a great staff ready to help you:
- Stop by our Reference Desk, or give us a call at 360-486-8812.
- Find your
Subject Librarian, and drop them an email.
-
Chat live with a librarian 24/7 at Ask-a-Librarian.
