Technology resources

The Learning and Writing Center offers many different technology resources for use by students. Several computer stations are available for use in the Learning and Writing Center during business hours. In addition, laptops are available when the other workstations are in use. All computers are equipped with Microsoft Office 2010. There are also other programs installed on certain computers or available on disk, including:

  • Inspiration (software for organizing information graphically)
  • MathType (for inserting mathematical equations into documents)
  • MATLab
  • Differential equation tools
  • Foundation course in Spanish
  • The Art of Public Speaking
  • Power Learning: Supercharge Your Study Time
  • Assistive technology software (see below)

The Learning and Writing Center also has AlphaSmarts available for checkout. These can be used for typing papers, taking notes and other forms of word processing.

Assistive technologies:

The Learning and Writing Center has several software programs installed on certain computers to help with certain learning or other needs. These software titles include:

  • Dragon Naturally Speaking. This program converts spoken words into text on the screen. For more information on using Dragon Naturally speaking, click here.

  • JAWS and MAGic. These programs are specially designed to help students with visual impairments. JAWS reads screen elements aloud, and MAGic magnifies items on the screen. For more information on using JAWS and MAGic, click here.
