Candidates for the Master of Civil Engineering degree must satisfactorily complete 30 semester hours of approved coursework, including three semester hours of advanced design project (MCE 502) or six semester hours of thesis (MCE 503).

Many program arrangements meeting the requirements for the Master of Civil Engineering degree are possible.

Students are free to take any of the approved courses for which they meet the prerequisites. The following are listings for courses in the structures and foundations area, transportation and project management area, and environmental engineering analysis.

Master of Civil Engineering /Master of Engineering Management: Dual degrees

A dual degree allows a student to pursue two degrees simultaneously.

  • The student needs to be accepted in both programs.
  • Up to 12 credits of cross-listed or approved courses may be applied to both degrees.
  • Each degree will be conferred separately upon completion of all requirements for that specific program.

For detailed information about all requirements for the degree and policies concerning the MCE program, please see the academic catalog.

Note: The courses cross-listed in both the CE and MCE programs will be more academically rigorous for MCE students. Any MCE cross listed course will not count for students who took the CE equivalent course.
