E-Mail Accounts

Every student must request a Network Account, an IQWeb account, and a Blackboard account (if taking on-line classes).  Your network account controls your e-mail, logging into the computers on our network and accessing the libraries resources.  Your IQWeb account is a portal into your students records.  IQWeb is used to register for classes, view grades, etc.  You also have a Blackboard account which is used to access your online class.  Repeated unsuccessful login attempts will cause a temporary lock-out for these accounts.  The temporary lockout is automatically released within a few minutes.

Requesting a Student E-Mail Account

• Go to https://abel.stmartin.edu (Do not enter www).
• Click on New Account Request.
• Follow online directions.  You must enter your student ID number and the campus where your advisor is located.
• Read and accept the Acceptable Use Policy then click “Submit” when you are finished.

Changing E-Mail Passwords

• You must choose a new password before you can access your email for the first time.
• Email passwords should be changed often and will expire after 4 months.
• Go to https://abel.stmartin.edu, Click on “Change My Network Password.”
• Enter username, usually firstname.lastname (be sure to include the dot)
• For old password enter your default password of smu followed by the last 4 digits of your student ID number (i.e. smu1234).
• Create your own password using at least 6 characters.  The most secure passwords have a combination of lower case, upper case, number, and special characters.
• Re-enter your new password, and click OK. You should see a message to confirm that your password has been successfully changed.

Accessing Student E-Mails

• To access your email go to https://abel.stmartin.edu. click on the “Access My Email” link.
• Most users need to enter their full email address as username and enter current password.

IQWeb Accounts

An IQWeb account is created when your email/network account is created.  Use IQWeb to register online, maintain your addresses, order transcripts, view grades, participate in forums and much more.

• Go to https://abel.stmartin.edu and click on IQWeb or go http://iqweb.stmartin.edu.

• Enter Username (without the “@stmartin.edu")

• Enter Password: default password is smu plus last 4 numbers of your student ID number (i.e. smu1234).  Note that IQWeb passwords are maintained separately from your email password.

• To change your IQWeb password: Login to IQWeb and click on the “Change Password” link from the Menu Bar on the left, follow instructions.

• If you forget your password click on the “What if I forget my password” link on the IQWeb login page then click on Request Password Assistance link at top of screen, or go to https://abel.stmartin.edu and click on IQWeb Password Assistance. Enter your username and click “Email a New Password” to have a new password emailed to your Saint Martin's University email account.

Blackboard Accounts

Online courses (WEB or BOL) require a Blackboard account. You will need to request and access your email and IQWeb accounts before a Blackboard account can be set up for you. Your initial Blackboard username and password will be the same as your IQWeb username and default password. You will find links to access IQWeb and the Blackboard help system at https://abel.stmartin.edu.  To log on to your Blackboard account:

• go to blackboard.stmartin.edu, bb.stmartin.edu, or http://ce6hosting.blackboard.com (select Saint Martin's University)
• at the log-in screen Username: your IQWEB account name
• Password: smu (and the last four digits of your student ID number)
