Accessing Saint Martin's University e-mail, Self-Service and Moodle accounts

e-mail accounts

Every student must request a network/email account. This account controls your email, logging into the computers on our network and accessing the libraries resources. Your Self-Service account is a portal into your students records and can be used to register for classes, view grades, etc. You will need to access your Moodle account for all course evaluations and online coursework. Your Self-Service and Moodle username and password will be the same as your network/e-mail account. Repeated unsuccessful login attempts will cause a temporary lock-out for these accounts. The temporary lockout is automatically released within a few minutes.

Requesting a student network/e-mail account

  • Go to http://mail.stmartin.edu.
  • Choose network account creation request.
  • Follow online directions. You must enter your student ID number and the campus where your advisor is located.
  • Read and accept the acceptable use policy then click submit when you are finished.

Changing network/email passwords

  • You must choose a new password before you can access your email for the first time.
  • Email passwords should be changed often and will expire after 4 months.
  • Go to http://mail.stmartin.edu, Click on choose network password/change expired password.
  • Enter username, usually firstname.lastname (be sure to include the dot)
  • For old password enter your default password of smu followed by the last 4 digits of your student ID number (i.e. smu1234).
  • Create your own password using at least 6 characters. The most secure passwords have a combination of lower case, upper case, number, and special characters.
  • Re-enter your new password, and click OK. You should see a message to confirm that your password has been successfully changed.

Accessing student emails

Self-Service account (formerly IQ.Web)

A Self-Service account is created when your network/e-mail account is created. Use Self-Service to register online, maintain your addresses, order transcripts, view grades, participate in forums and much more. You can access Self-Service at http://selfservice.stmartin.edu.

Moodle accounts

Your Moodle username and password is the same as your network/e-mail username and password. All online classes require a Moodle account. It is highly encouraged for all students, including those enrolled in lecture classes, to access Moodle to submit course evaluations. You will find access and helpful information to Moodle at http://moodle.stmartin.edu.
