What is baccalaureate
Baccalaureate is a vespers service evening prayer followed by the formal
presentation of the academic hood.
Schedule and other event information for grads
Undergraduate (BA, BS, BSCE, BSME): 4:15 p.m. - arrive
wearing cap, tassel and gown (hoods will be received during the
ceremony).
4:30 - 4:45 p.m. - Undergraduates should assemble by degree in the
driveway between Old Main and the Abbey.
5 p.m. - All undergraduates will enter the church following monks and
faculty.
Graduate (MAC, MBA, MED, MIT, MEM):
9:15 a.m. - arrive wearing cap, tassel and gown (hoods will be
received during the ceremony).
9:30-9:45 a.m. - Graduates should assemble in the driveway between
Old Main and the Abbey. If it is raining, assemble in Old Main's North
Hall, by the Registrar's Office.
10 a.m. - All graduates will enter the church following monks and
faculty.
Receiving the hood
The hood will be draped over each graduate's head after they receive
their hood. Graduates who are unable to secure their cap may choose to
remove it.
Exit
Graduates exit first. Mary Law will direct them toward the exit of
the church, whereupon graduates should recess completely out of the
church courtyard.
