Coaches
Head coach Phil Ibarra
Phil
Ibarra enters his second season as head coach of the Saint Martin's
University women’s volleyball program. Before taking over the program Ibarra spent the 2000 season as the top
assistant under former head coach Clyde Reis. Ibarra, who has over 28
years of coaching experience, was the head coach at Timberline High
School from 1993-98, where he led the team to two Narrows League
Championships in 1996 and 1997. Ibarra was selected Coach-of-the-Year in
1996 after bringing home the League Title for the first time in school
history. Prior to Timberline, Ibarra coached the United States Army and
the Armed Forces women’s volleyball programs from 1981-1982. Ibarra has
been a member of the USVA for over 13 years in the Puget Sound and
Evergreen Volleyball Region. Just recently he founded the South Sound Ohana Volleyball Club in Thurston County and currently serves as the
director of the club. He participated in high school volleyball, club
volleyball programs, and was the player/coach for the 1981Traddoc
(United States Army Eastern Region) volleyball championship team. He
currently resides in Olympia with his wife of 29 years, Val, and their 4
children; Tauren (24), Dustin (22), Kalama (20), and Malia (17).
Assistant coach Emily Wofford
Emily Wofford enters her second year as assistant coach of the
Saints. She graduated from Saint Martin's in 2005 with a degree in
Business. Coach Wofford played for the Saints from 2001-2004 as a middle
blocker. She was named an Academic All-American all four years and
received All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2004. Coach Wofford was
born and raised in Olympia and is a 2001 graduate of Capitol High
School.
