Women’s Golf: Henden leads Saints to first ever tournament win

Livermore, CA – Saint Martin’s women’s golf posted
its first ever tournament victory as they won the 1st Annual NDNU
Invitational winning by 25 strokes with four finishing in the top ten.
The Saints shot two outstanding rounds with a 320 on
day one and 324 on day two. SMU entered the final round one stroke
behind Cal State Monterey Bay overcame the deficit after Stacie Henden
and Lauren Roberts shot 78 apiece.
Henden finished the tournament in second place
overall after shooting 79 in the first round for a total 157. Babe
Prante posted a two day total of 160 to put her in fourth place.
Lauren Roberts was tied for fifth shooting 162 while
Amy Dalzell posted a 165 to put her in seventh. Alexi Coltom wrapped up
play tied for 15th shooting a two round total of 177.
“The girls put themselves in position to win on the
first day. Then they played good enough on day two to come back and
actually beat Monterey by a fairly wide margin,” said head coach Bob
Grisham. “They played very good golf on a tough course.”
CSUMB’s Cicilia Chudivan took home the individual
title with the low round each day. Chudivan shot a first round 75
followed by a 77 in the second round to finish at 152. The Otters took
second as a team with a combined 669.
The Saints gear up for their next tournament which
sends them to Chico, CA for the Chico State/Interwest Invitational in
April.
