Women’s Golf: Saints post strong second round

March 5, 2008

Austin, TX – The Saint Martin’s women’s golf team posted a 40 shot team turnaround in round two to finish eighth with a two-day, two-round tournament total of 688 at the St. Edward’s Invitational held at the Grey Rock Golf Club.

The Saints second round play of 324 was the fourth best round of the tournament.

Babe Prante led the Saints with a total 165 to finish tied for ninth. Lauren Roberts was tied for 33rd with a two-day total of 173, after shooting a team low 78 in the second round.

Stacie Henden wrapped up play with a 177 while Amy Dalzell and Alexi Coltom posted scores of 178 and 182 respectively.

“The girls showed a lot of resilience considering the extremely tough weather conditions on day one with the high winds and low temperatures,” said head coach Bob Grisham. “In a tournament field comprised of most of the best teams in the West region, they posted a good showing for their first competition of the spring; I am pleased with the way they came back.”

The Texas junior varsity team finished first overall in the 17 team tournament with a total of 649. Southwestern's Kristen Davenport took home the medalist honors shooting a 157 for the tournament.
