Women’s Golf: Saints post strong first round

Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s women’s golf team shot a
combined 297 to set a school record for a single round of play in the
first round of their home tournament, the SMU Invitational, Thursday
afternoon at the Tumwater Valley Golf and Country Club.
The Saints were led by seniors Babe Prante and
Stacie Henden who finished round one tied for first at one under par
after shooting 71, a new school record for women’s golf.
“The girls played extremely well today. Babe and
Stacie played the way you want and expect your seniors to play,” said
head coach Bob Grisham.
Amy Dalzell ended the day in fifth with a 77 while
Lauren Roberts was tied for sixth at 78. Alexi Coltom wrapped up day one
tied for 12th after shooting 80.
“Everyday it is someone different who steps up,
plays well and puts together a good round. That is the strength of this
team and that’s what will make them successful,” added Grisham.
The Saints will play the second and final round
tomorrow teeing off at 8 a.m.
