Women’s Golf: Prante and Henden finish in top ten at GCU Invitational

Goodyear, AZ – Solid performances by Babe Prante and
Stacie Henden helped the Saint Martin’s women’s golf team to a sixth
place finish at the Grand Canyon University Women’s Invitational at the
Palm Valley Golf Club.
At the end of day one Prante was tied for fifth
after shooting a 74, just two strokes over par. She shot a 79 on day two
to finish in eighth place with a combined score of 153. Henden posted a
77 in both rounds of the tournament giving her a total of 154 and
putting her tied for ninth overall.
Lauren Roberts finished tied for 32nd having shot a
76 in round one and an 83 in round two. Alexi Coltom was tied for 54th
with a total of 167 while Maria Laraisse tied for 70th at 171.
Tarleton State University took the win shooting 614
as a team followed by Western New Mexico University at 622. The Saints
finished with an overall team total of 628 for the tournament.
“The girls played really well to finish sixth out of
twenty teams,” said head coach Bob Grisham. “However, I think we all
felt that we could have played better on the second day.”
The Saints get set to host the SMU Invitational
April 2-3 at the Olympia Country Club.
