March 6, 2007
Austin, TX – The Saint Martin’s women’s golf team
put together a strong two day showing to finish tied for fifth at the 20
team
St. Edwards Spring Invitational at the Golf Club at Circle C.
The Saints were in third at the end of day one after
shooting 324 as a team and shot a 337 on day two to finish with a 661
total. They trailed only Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State. Host
St. Edwards and Tarleton State, who were in fourth and fifth after day
one, came roaring back on day two shooting a 319 and a 321 to take first
and second respectively.
“This gave us the opportunity to compete against
some of the best teams in the west region,” said head coach Bob Grisham.
“The girls played really well and put together some really solid
performances. It’s a great chance for the girls to see their potential
to qualify for regionals.”
Stacie Henden led the Saints shooting two rounds of
79 for a total of 158. Babe Prante shot a 77 on day one and a 79 on day
two. Maria Laraisse, Lauren Roberts and Alexi Coltom all finished with a
two day total of 173.
“Stacie was very consistent through both days.
That’s what marks her game, her consistency,” added Grisham.
The Saints get ready to take part in the Grand
Canyon University Invitational set for March 26th and 27th in Goodyear,
AZ.
