Women’s Basketball: Darling accepts position at Peninsula College
April 26, 2006
Lacey, WA --- Tiffany Darling, who has been a part
of the Saint Martin's University women's basketball program for the past
two years, accepted a full-time position at Peninsula College as the
Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Student Recruitment Coordinator
announced today.
Peninsula, competing in the Northwest Athletic
Association of Community Colleges northern division, finished 10-17
overall a season ago and was division champs in 2004-05.
“It is a great opportunity for me to move up the
professional ladder. I have long aspired to become a head coach at the
collegiate level and am extremely excited to get my start at Peninsula,”
said Darling.
Darling, 27, served as the Sports Information
Director and Senior Women’s Administrator in addition to coaching at SMU.
She will continue those duties until the end of May.
Saint Martin’s posted a 31-25 record during
Darling’s two years on the sideline. In 2004-05, she helped lead SMU to
its first 20-win season and National Tournament appearance in school
history since going NCAA Division II.
Darling’s primary duties included directing the
fall/spring conditioning program, conducting individual workouts geared
towards player development, planning and overseeing the study table
program, and coordinating tape exchange. She was also the Assistant Camp
Director for the Saints Summer Basketball Camp.
Prior to Saint Martin's, Darling served as the Head
Girl’s Basketball Coach at Warden High School from 2002-04. In just two
years at the helm, she led the team to a League Title, District Title
for the first time in school history, and a berth to the State
Tournament, while being selected Coach-of-the-Year for efforts in
turning around the program.
Darling earned her bachelor's degree in
Health/Fitness from Central Washington University in 2002 where she was
a captain of the women’s basketball team. She is a graduate of Fife High
School.
