Volleyball: Saints fall in final match

Bellingham, WA – Saint Martin’s lost to Western
Washington University, ranked No. 2 in the DII Pacific Region, 30-15,
30-21, 30-14, Saturday night at Carver Gymnasium.
The Vikings went on an early run in the first game
to establish a 12-6 lead. They would maintain no less then a four point
lead before scoring the final eight points for the win. WWU posted a
.425 hitting percentage in the game.
In game two Western built up a seven point lead half
way through. SMU tried to battle back putting together a couple of small
runs late but the Vikings were too much. Western Washington scored the
first five points of game three and then scored 16 of the next 21 points
to open up 15 point margin that the Saints couldn’t overcome.
Shealun Campisi had 11 kills and 11 digs for the
Saints while Andrea Tarbet added 17 digs and seven kills. The Vikings
had three players with 10 or more kills in the match.
The Saints finish their season 4-14 in conference
and 4-24 overall.
