Volleyball: Saints finish strong at home

November 3, 2007

Lacey, WA – Saints Martin’s posted their second sweep of the week as they defeated the University of Alaska Fairbanks 3-0, 30-22, 30-23, 30-18, in their final home game of the year Saturday night at the SMU Pavilion.

Nicole Ostlund led the Saints with 14 kills on the night while Shealun Campisi had 13 kills and 14 digs. Andrea Tarbet added 10 kills and 10 digs along with four service aces.

Up by one in the first game at 15-14 the Saints scored 11 of the next 15 points to go up by eight. A kill by Campisi and attack error by the Nanooks would put the game away.

The Saints pulled out to a 24-14 lead in game two before Fairbanks battled their way back to get within one at 24-23. But that was as close as they would get as the Saints scored the final six points for the win.

Saint Martin’s posted a .433 hitting percentage in the third and final game as they made easy work of the Nanooks. The Saints put together a 10 point run early on and never let Fairbanks pull within less than eight the rest of the way.

The Saints travel to Ellensburg on November 8th to take on the Wildcats of Central Washington University.
