Volleyball: Saints suffer loss to Falcons
September 22, 2007
Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s put up a strong fight but
could beat Seattle Pacific falling in three, 30-20, 30-23, 30-25,
Saturday night at the SMU Pavilion.
Game one stayed close until halfway through. Saint
Martin’s was down by two, 15-13, when Seattle Pacific went on a 10-4 run
to capture an eight point lead. The gap was too big for the Saints to
overcome as the Falcons picked up the win.
The Falcons were able to pull away in game two and
establish an eight point lead at 18-10. But the Saints battled back to
get within two at 20-18. With the score 26-23, advantage Falcons, SPU
managed to score the final four points of the game for the win.
The Saints battled with the Falcons in game three. A
kill by SPU’s Angie Wodrich broke things open starting an 8-2 run to put
the Falcons up by seven, 24-17. Saint Martin’s pulled within four at
25-21 but Seattle Pacific strung together another four in a row to
increase the deficit to eight. The Saints never gave up with four in row
of their own but it was too little too late as the Falcons were able to
fend off the Saints for the win.
Shealun Campisi had 10 kills and seven digs for the
Saints. Kirstyn Druzianich posted 11 digs while Andrea Tarbet had 10.
The Saints have a bye this Thursday before heading
to Western Oregon to take on the Wolves on the 29th.
