Volleyball: Crusaders sweep Saints

Lacey, WA – Northwest Nazarene put together a solid
offensive attack to defeat Saint Martin’s 30-21, 30-20, and 30-19 for
the three game sweep Thursday night at the SMU Pavilion.
Game one started off close with the Saints taking
the lead only to see the Crusaders come back to tie it. Up 12-10
Northwest Nazarene scored 12 of the next 15 points to pull away. The 11
point cushion was enough to keep the Saints at bay and pick up the win.
The Crusaders rocketed to an early 15-4 lead in game
two. Saint Martin’s cut the lead to six but couldn’t stop NNU’s offense
losing 30-20.
In game three Northwest Nazarene again captured a
sizable lead. With the score 10-5 in favor of NNU the Crusaders posted a
13-5 run to widen the gap to 12. The Saints were never able to cut the
deficit to less then nine as NNU rolled to the easy win.
Northwest Nazarene posted a .333 hitting percentage
to the Saints .165. They also picked up 44 kills while SMU had 37.
Shealun Campisi led the Saints with 13 kills and
eight digs. Malia Ibarra also had eight digs and added six kills.
Saint Martin’s will face Seattle Pacific at home
this Saturday at 7 p.m.
