Volleyball: Wildcats sweep Saints

Lacey, WA – Central Washington used a balanced
attack and a .352 hitting percentage to pick up the 3-0 victory over
Saint Martin’s in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play Saturday
night at the SMU Pavilion.
The Saints scored the first two points in game one
but the rest was all Wildcats. Thy would score four in a row to take the
lead and with the score 7-4 they went on an 18 point run to take a 21
point advantage the Saints could not recover from. CWU got the win 30-6.
Central maintained a solid lead throughout game two.
Saint Martin’s was able to pull within three at 20-17 but the Wildcats
scored 10 of the next 13 points for the 30-20 win.
Game three stayed close in the beginning until up by
two with the score 7-5 Central put together an eight point run going up
15-5. CWU had another eight point run later in the game, holding off the
Saints for the 30-16 win.
Malia Ibarra and Kimber Simonetti had eight digs
each while Shealun Campisi and Kanoe Kalalau each added seven. Erika
Stevens posted 14 digs for the Wildcats while Rachael Schurman and Erin
Norris had had 12 and 10 kills respectively.
With the loss the Saints drop to 0-2 in league and
0-11 overall. The Wildcats improved to 1-1 in conference and 2-9
overall.
Saint Martin’s next game will put them against the
Yellowjackets of Montana State Billings September 15th in Billings, MT.
