Volleyball: Saints fall to Coyotes

Bellingham, WA – Saint Martin’s lost to Cal State
San Bernardino 3-0 in their first game at the Western Washington
Volleyball Invite Friday.
The Coyotes quickly jumped ahead in the first game
going up 17-6. They would continue to build on their lead never letting
the Saints pull within less than eight and taking game one 30-16.
Game two saw a tie game a total of five times, the
final at 16-16. San Bernardino then used a five point run to pull away.
SMU was able to get back within three but the Coyotes scored the final
four points for the win 30-23.
The third game stayed close tied 13-13 when CSUSB
went on a 12-4 run taking the lead 26-17. The Saints pulled within five
but the Coyotes were able to hold them off for the 30-22 win.
Andrea Tarbet and Nicole Ostlund led the Saints with
six kills each. Tarbet added six digs. Kanoe Kalalau had 19 set assists.
The Coyotes were led by Jessica Granados with 13 kills and Megan Haas
with 16 digs.
Saint Martin’s will play two games tomorrow, one
against Cal Poly Pomona and the other against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
