Volleyball: Saints fall to undefeated Falcons
October 23, 2006
Seattle, WA (October 21) – The Saint Martin’s
volleyball team lost to undefeated Seattle Pacific University Saturday
night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest, 26-30, 19-30,
and 15-30.
The Falcons quickly took the lead in game one but
the Saints didn’t give up. Down by ten 19-29 and the Falcons needing
only one for game point the Saints went on a seven point run to pull
within three. With the score 29-26, SPU finally got what they were
looking for; a kill by Seattle Pacific’s Alyssa Given put an end to the
Saints rally and gave the Falcons the win.
In game two with the score tied 9-9 the Falcons went
on a seven point run to jump ahead. The Saints were never able to
recover from the deficit as SPU went on to win 30-19. Game three was all
Falcons as they went ahead early and never faltered. The Saints tried to
battle their way back but it was too much to overcome. SPU never trailed
in the game and took the win 30-15.
Heather Warner led the Saints with seven kills.
Elise Dike and Shealun Campisi both had six kills. Campisi also posted
13 digs. Sunny Nilson put up 12 digs on the night while Kimber Simonetti
had 10.
The Saints are back at home on October 26th to take
on Seattle University at 7 p.m. in the SMU Pavilion.
