Volleyball: Saints lose to Crusaders in three
October 20, 2006
Nampa, ID (October 19) – The Saint Martin’s
volleyball team fell to Northwest Nazarene University in three games,
19-30, 22-30, and 25-30, Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic
Conference game at the Johnson Sports Center.
The Saints fought to stay in game one but a couple
of late runs by the Crusaders were too much to overcome. NNU scored the
last four points, the final on their sixth service ace of the game. The
Crusaders never trailed in game two. They went on a seven point run to
open the game and maintained their lead to take the win. Game three saw
Northwest Nazarene jump ahead early. The Saints battled their way back
to stay in the game but it wasn’t enough as the Crusaders went on to
win.
The Crusaders posted a .303 hitting percentage and
held the Saints to just .120. NNU also took advantage of 11 service aces
to SMU’s five.
Holly Nilson posted 11 digs for the Saints as well
as seven kills. Andrea Tarbet and Elise Dike also added seven kills
each. Shealun Campisi led the Saints with 10 kills on the night. Lisa
Hall put up 28 set assists.
The Saints will travel to Seattle this Saturday to
take on Seattle Pacific University at 7 p.m. at the Brougham Pavilion
