Volleyball: Saints drop match in three

Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s volleyball fell to
Western Washington University in three games, 24-30, 20-30, and 16-30,
in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match Thursday night at the SMU
Pavilion.
Game one was a close contest with the score tied
halfway through at 15-15. Western scored nine of the next 13 points to
hang on and take the win.
Western took the early lead in game two and never
looked back. The Vikings never trailed in the game, holding the Saints
to just a .100 hitting percentage.
With the Saints down by two in game three the
Vikings went on a run scoring 12 of 14 points. The lead was too much for
the Saints to overcome as the Vikings went on to win 30-16.
Saint Martin’s was out-hit .161 to Western’s .276.
The Saints also suffered from 12 service errors while the Vikings had
only three.
Kristin Anderson had 14 kills for the Saints as well
as ten digs. Shealun Campisi posted nine kills and 11 digs while Andrea
Tarbet had eight kills and 12 digs. Lisa Hall put up 33 set assists.
The Saints next match will put them against Central
Washington University on Saturday at the SMU Pavilion.
