Volleyball: Saints lose to Nanooks in three
October 6, 2006
Fairbanks, AK (October 5) – The Saint Martin’s
volleyball team ended up on the losing end of a three game sweep as they
fell to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks, Thursday night at
the Patty Center, 23-30, 18-30, and 26-30.
Game one saw SMU battle back from a ten point
deficit, but it wasn’t enough to hold off the unyielding Nanooks. Alaska
Fairbanks jumped ahead early in game two and never looked back beating
the Saints 30-18. The Saints kept it close in game three but a couple of
late runs by the Nanooks was enough to pull away with the win.
The Nanooks never trailed by more then one point in
any of the three games out hitting the Saints .131 to .345. With 12
kills and 10 digs Shealun Campisi led Saint Martin’s on the defensive
end as the only Saint in double digits. Lisa Hall added 30 set assists.
The Saints continue their stay in Alaska and take on
the University of Alaska Anchorage Saturday.
